Possible futures (Post 5)

When I chose the sociology programme I didn't know what job I could get with this degree. Maybe the unknown future atracts me too to take the decission. Currently I think I would like to do carreer in social research, taking a post-degree in social research methods or some similarly to this. I would like doing basic and applied research, looking into epistemology issues of academic (with a self-interest of researchers mainly) and involving (including the community with we are working interest) methodologies. Furthermore, the possibility to mix qualitative and cuantitative methods in the same strategy and, even, if we can speak about two clearly differents perspectives. Although the last I pointed out sounds very indoor job, this issues leads me to doing inquiries on the field (outdoor). Traveling to other countries doesn't appeal to me a lot, but likely I have to do this for studying in the area I'm talking. Consequently, I hope to receive a good salary after this eff...

The pain (Post 4)

Since I was a child I've went to many funerals and, like I grew up in a catholic context, I always heard to my mother saying condolences like "Will be in a better place, is resting now", and  I thought about "resting for what?", why death could be a better state than the life. The second question had an answer: the heaven is better of all, but the first one had no answer for some time. Therefore, they have died in completely suffering, extending the agony with no sense. Otherwise, this is a cont...

First of all, you should know that I'm not (and I have not been) vegetarian (maybe in the future), and I think that this fact makes me question myself all I going to ponder now. Without further ado, back to the issue. I think that to be vegetarian is a challenge and an effort for have a consistent life with a political attitude, but I don't believe that works like a rule: without awareness about the animal abuse we are  taking a vegetarianism as an empty axiom. Once you realize that human being (like specie) get profit from animal exploitation, your way of understand the world don't back to be same. In the same way, I think that to be vegetarian is a previous phase to be vegan, because if we want to abolish the human domination to be vegetarian is not enough, we need to change our material reproduction style. The above leads me to what Marcuse have pointed out ...
